About the artist

Gregory Pyra, an international jewelry artist, has his work shown currently in museums such as the Malbork Castle Museum, in Malbork, and the Amber Museum in Gdansk in Poland.  In the past he has made pieces for the Royal family in Sweden, for King Gustav and Queen Silvia in 1976 after his work was shown in Tidö Slott, in Tidö, Sweden.  Gregory has had shows since the 1970's until the present throughout Europe and United States.  Gregory had his jewelry works published in numerous books, which were printed in Germany, Poland, United Kingdom, France, etc.  Some of his recent made work currently is found in galleries in the United States.  His work in USA and Europe is one of the very few rarities that is still artist originaly made.  Gregory Pyra jewelry today clearly shows the difference between craft jewelry, popular in the UK and USA, and his own class of art jewelry, in that craft jewelry is just handmade vs. that art jewelry goes beyond into showing something that the artist creates that is not common to see. Another unique Piro ring is the square ring #9030 in sterling silver and 14 karat gold.  The square ring uniquely combines drusy, also known as crystal habit with facet cut iolite gem stone, sometimes called cordierite, and Australian black opal.

 

 

 

 

 

The square ring is one of Piro designer jewelry style rings.  The square rings can be created in mixed metal of sterling silver and 14 karat gold, or in all gold upon special request.  The gem stone and other material combinations can be mixed creatively. Of course in jewelry such combinations will not exist, but that's what art jewelry is all about, being unique, and Piro designer jewelry is a great example of this unique art jewelry.  For example, in square ring #2002 a facet cut peridot is with sea glass, spiral ring #1001 has facet cut peridot with amber, and square ring #1000 has amber with facet cut amethyst.  Other unique combinations can be made, for example in square ring #1002, facet cut blue topaz, amethyst, and cabochon moonstone.  Spiral ring #3001 is even different with facet cut citrine, garnet, amethyst, and drusy.  Pieces with extra articles are even more unique as there is so much a jewelry artist can work with to make unique designs.  The Piro square ring has a more contemporary look mixing the look of fine jewelry, art jewelry, and a bit contemporary jewelry.  Piro square rings are, therefore, very unique.
