Gregory Pyra Piro art jewelry is all original work.  Most pieces are from sterling silver and solid 14 karat gold, or sterling silver and solid 18 karat gold, with variety of combinations of color stones.  Special orders can also be made in all gold on request.  At times, in larger pieces, materials such as wood, steel, and glass may be used together with silver and gold.  The gem stones in the jewelry range from precious to semi precious facet cut with a combination of pearls, drusy crystals, cut glass, sea glass, occasional ammonite, and amber.  The wide selection of materials makes possible for the designer jewelry artist to create the art jewelry to have very different, unique jewelry designs.  The art jewelry pieces are formed from silver and gold wire, sheet, tubes, etc., with jewelry tools.  The original handmade jewelry idea of Gregory Pyra Piro art jewelry is that each customer when they own a piece by Gregory it is the original handcrafted by the jewelry artist. 



Gregory Pyra Piro jewelry available  on this website includes a booklet  (image above), which has a picture of the piece ordered on the cover,  and the booklet inside says that it is an original  handcrafted piece by the designer jewelry artist Gregory Pyra Piro and that the piece is not casting duplicate but a handmade jewelry piece.  The booklet comes with your ring, pendant, earrings, necklace, or pendant.
The booklet is hand signed by the artist.

Jewelry is either fine jewelry, such as gold jewelry in jewelry stores, gold jewelry with diamonds, gold rings, diamond rings, gold charms, gold chains, or any kind of commercial production jewelry that is made of gold that is offered in jewelry stores, that has real gemstones such as diamonds, and even has certificates, but an artist has never seen such a piece with his live eyes or even touched it with his hands much less even made it.  Or jewelry is handmade jewelry, craft jewelry, handcrafted jewelry, or jewelry that is made by crafters or artists, where the jewelry pieces are not made usually from solid gold, and often not even from sterling silver. This type of artist or crafter made craft jewelry, handcrafted jewelry, or handmade jewelry often is made from steel, or from copper and only has the look of sterling silver and solid gold jewelry, and has glass or cubic zirconia instead of real gemstones such as:   amethyst, blue topaz, citrine, garnet, peridot, tourmaline, or even emerald, sapphire, ruby, or diamond.  Why the market of jewelry in gold and silver with real gemstones probably may not be strong is because no one has the opportunity to examine a lady's handcrafted jewelry pair of earrings, a necklace, or a ring at an eye's glance when it is worn in public, and such ladies get away with thinking no one will ever know.  Yes, but someone wearing the jewelry still does know. Then there is also the handmade jewelry, or craft jewelry that is the so called handmade by artists and often also is called handcrafted jewelry, but does not even include rings because it is only beaded jewelry offering only necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, and such craft jewelry or handcrafted jewelry although again will sometimes even look nice, someone wearing it knows it does not require a very highly skilled professional specialist to bead a strand of beads.  Beaded jewelry is handmade jewelry but it is usually without the gold and without the silver, and without the work of a skilled silversmith or a skilled goldsmith, a jewelry artist, or any skilled handwork from an artist. Beaded jewelry is handmade jewelry, and skill is needed to make such craft jewelry, but the skills to strand beads are very basic.  And then still there is the contemporary jewelry, the European art jewelry or the designer jewelry that is made of materials such as, for example, plastic or paper and designers make names for themselves with such jewelry on shows.  The European contemporary jewelry is made by designers, but again this kind of contemporary jewelry is usually without gold and without silver or handwork of a metal artist, unless the metal is steel or copper, or other non precious metal, and it's often only the name that counts in such craft jewelry, handmade jewelry, or designer jewelry.  But when a woman wears a piece of jewelry, she will not be wearing a designer's name around her neck, her wrist, or her finger, but the piece itself.  Gregory Pyra Piro is both fine jewelry and handmade jewelry by artist, at the same time.  The jewelry is original handmade and is made in sterling silver and solid gold of either 14 karat gold or 18 karat gold and has semi precious gemstones such as:   amethyst, blue topaz, citrine, garnet, peridot, tourmaline, or diamond, emerald, sapphire, and ruby.  It is not only hard to find today jewelry that is really artist made, but even harder if the artist made jewelry is made with real gemstones, and precious metals.

About the artist

Gregory Pyra, an international jewelry artist, has his work shown currently in museums such as the Malbork Castle Museum, in Malbork, and the Amber Museum in Gdansk in Poland.  Pforzheim Jewellery Museum also had his jewelry artworks.  In the past he has made pieces for the Royal family in Sweden, for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia in 1976 after his work was shown in Tidö Slott, in Tidö-Lindö, Sweden.  Gregory had shows since the 1970's until the present in Europe, USA, Australia.  His jewelry works were published in books, which were printed in Germany, Poland, UK, France, etc.  Some of his recent made work currently is found in galleries in the USA and Europe.  His art jewelry is something that is entirely artist created and not influenced by the market.  Gregory Pyra art jewelry, unique in a class by itself, is different than anything in the craft movement in the UK, USA, and Australia, and different than any mass produced jewelry found in the UK, USA, Europe or in any other market.  This jewelry is something that the artist creates completely on his own, and at the same time has superb quality. Art jewelry, designer jewelry by artist Gregory Pyra Piro and the Piro Group has been a long multi generation tradition in the family.  Piro art jewelry is made in a unique way and is formed into a unique form.  Every jewelry piece is a work of art, created entirely in free form.  Unlike most jewelry today, which is made in either casting or is stamped, Piro art jewelry is made by hand and the free forms are made with a torch with careful precision soldering, which is something that takes a long time and a lot of skilled talent to master.  Therefore, each piece, even if based on a similar or even the same design will come out a bit different, unlike it would in cast pieces, and each piece is one of a kind even if based on a particular design.  The Piro art jewelry is made in sterling silver and 14 karat or 18 karat gold, and sometimes all gold.  The designs for center stones often have facet cut gem stones such as:  amethyst, blue topaz, citrine, garnet, iolite, peridot, green tourmaline, pink tourmaline, or any other different colors of tourmaline.  Alternately sometimes cabochons of moonstone and opal are used.  Side stones, which sometimes are also major parts of the design pieces can include:  ammonite, Baltic amber, glass, sea glass, drusy, mother pearl, and Australian opal.  Pearls, opal, moonstone, can be placed either as center or side gem stones.  The center gem stones in many Piro design jewelry pieces frequently come in such combinations as:   amethyst and blue topaz, amethyst and garnet, blue topaz and peridot, citrine and garnet, citrine and peridot, and tourmaline can come with another color gem stones.  Sometimes gem stones can double up as two amethyst stones or two blue topaz stones, for example.  And simpler pieces may have a single gem stone.  Piro art jewelry includes combination pieces such as ring pendants, and some unique creative pieces such as the stack rings.
