About the artist
Gregory Pyra, an international jewelry artist, has his work shown currently in museums such as the Malbork Castle Museum, in Malbork, and the Amber Museum in Gdansk in Poland. In the past he has made pieces for the Royal family in Sweden, for King Gustav and Queen Silvia in 1976 after his work was shown in Tidö Slott, in Tidö, Sweden. Gregory has had shows since the 1970's until the present throughout Europe and United States. Gregory had his jewelry works published in numerous books, which were printed in Germany, Poland, United Kingdom, France, etc. Some of his recent made work currently is found in galleries in the United States. His work in USA and Europe is one of the very few rarities that is still artist originaly made. Gregory Pyra jewelry today clearly shows the difference between craft jewelry, popular in the UK and USA, and his own class of art jewelry, in that craft jewelry is just handmade vs. that art jewelry goes beyond into showing something that the artist creates that is not common to see. Art jewelry, designer jewelry by artist Gregory Pyra Piro and the Piro Group has been a long multi generation tradition in the family. Piro art jewelry is made in a unique way and is formed into a unique form. Every jewelry piece is a work of art, created entirely in free form. Unlike most jewelry today, which is made in either casting or is stamped, Piro art jewelry is made by hand and the free forms are made with a torch with careful precision soldering, which is something that takes a long time and a lot of skilled talent to master. Therefore, each piece, even if based on a similar or even the same design will come out a bit different, unlike it would in cast pieces, and each piece is one of a kind even if based on a particular design. The Piro art jewelry is made in sterling silver and 14 karat or 18 karat gold, and sometimes all gold. The designs for center stones often have facet cut gem stones such as: amethyst, blue topaz, citrine, garnet, iolite, peridot, green tourmaline, pink tourmaline, or any other different colors of tourmaline. Alternately sometimes cabochons of moonstone and opal are used. Side stones, which sometimes are also major parts of the design pieces can include: ammonite, Baltic amber, glass, sea glass, drusy, mother pearl, and Australian opal. Pearls, opal, moonstone, can be placed either as center or side gem stones. The center gem stones in many Piro design jewelry pieces frequently come in such combinations as: amethyst and blue topaz, amethyst and garnet, blue topaz and peridot, citrine and garnet, citrine and peridot, and tourmaline can come with another color gem stones. Sometimes gem stones can double up as two amethyst stones or two blue topaz stones, for example. And simpler pieces may have a single gem stone. Piro art jewelry includes combination pieces such as ring pendants, and some unique creative pieces such as the stack rings.

Unlike Australian jewelry or jewelry with just opals alone, Piro art jewelry gives a nice home for the Australian opals among a neighborhood of a whole lot of different color gem stones. The Australian opals in Piro art jewelry designs as shown in images can be intermixed with gem stones such as: amethyst, blue topaz, citrine, garnet, iolite, peridot, tourmaline, moonstone, diamond, ruby, just about any gem stone. Sometimes the opal can even go with glass, sea glass, amber, and ammonite, and Piro art jewelry shows that the opal can be applied in many creative ways with other gem stones.

Gregory Pyra Piro designer art jewelry includes combination pieces such pieces that are both rings and pendants. The ring pendants double up as two pieces in one, and besides being a good value are really unique. The ring pendants are convertible pieces, which can be worn as either rings or as pendants. Piro ring pendants convert from rings to pendants by folding the rings into a flat position. They can alternately be sometimes called flip rings if they are without a chain. The Piro flip rings have a built in loop where a chain can be slid right through and the ring then becomes a pendant when folded. These pendants convert right back into rings by sliding out the chain and unfolding the pendants back into the rings position, and the pendants are ready to be again worn as rings. The ring pendants are made from sterling silver and 14 karat or 18 karat gold. The center facet cut gem stones include such gem stones as: amethyst, blue topaz, citrine, garnet, iolite, peridot, green tourmaline, pink tourmaline, or a different color tourmaline. The side materials can include glass, sea glass, drusy, or pearls. Piro ring pendants for sizing are treated exactly the same as Piro rings and can by sized to almost any size.
