About the artist

Gregory Pyra, an international jewelry artist, has his work shown currently in museums such as the Malbork Castle Museum, in Malbork, and the Amber Museum in Gdansk in Poland.  In the past he has made pieces for the Royal family in Sweden, for King Gustav and Queen Silvia in 1976 after his work was shown in Tidö Slott, in Tidö, Sweden.  Gregory has had shows since the 1970's until the present throughout Europe and United States.  Gregory had his jewelry works published in numerous books, which were printed in Germany, Poland, United Kingdom, France, etc.  Some of his recent made work currently is found in galleries in the United States.  His work in USA and Europe is one of the very few rarities that is still artist originally made.  Gregory Pyra jewelry today clearly shows the difference between craft jewelry, popular in the UK and USA, and his own class of art jewelry, in that craft jewelry is just handmade vs. that art jewelry goes beyond into showing something that the artist creates that is not common to see. Persons interested in Gregory's recent made original works can contact the artist.

Designer Art Jewelry

Original Artist's Handmade Works

This site shows the creation of fine, elegant rare one of a kind art in the jewelry medium, designer art jewelry, sculptures, and drawings by artist Gregory Pyra Piro and the Piro Group.  The images and animations show real designer art jewelry pieces, real sculptures, and drawings.

All Piro pieces are very original creations.  Piro designer art jewelry are functional sculpture works of art that are wearable, and include such pieces as rings, pendants, bracelets, earrings, watch bracelets, ring/pendants, pin/pendants, necklaces, etc.  Gregory Pyra Piro art jewelry is designed to be elegant, unique artwork, and also to be functional.  The pieces are handmade by artist.  The stones and metals used in the jewelry are solid 14 karat and 18 karat gold, sterling and fine silver, and a wide variety of stones and gems.  The combinations of our materials is as creative as our artwork itself.  Piro, for example, can make a piece in sterling and solid gold that has Baltic amber and fine jewelry facet cut stones together in that same piece.  Or put a combination of sea glass with pearls and fine jewelry facet cut stones together.  Piro sculptures may be a combination of clocks, lamps, and wine glasses, and can be made of materials like nautilus shells, ebony wood, black oak, silver, gold, and include semi precious and precious stones.  Piro drawings have their own style of surrealism and can be deciphered to have drawings of objects within themselves with a magnifying glass.

The Peace Sign Trend Returns

Nowadays, when it comes to jewelry, the most commonly used peace sign of all is the one coming from the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. This model has revolutionized the world of jewelry, more and more people being interested in this simple, but very interesting type of accessories. You can buy peace sign earrings, gloves, scarves, rings, necklaces, bracelets, pins and even moccasins or bags.

Good examples of why this piece sign thing has turned into a real trend are film festivals and social events as such. Designers create whole lines with peace symbols, so that people have where to choose from. Although jewelry with peace signs on it has this hippie touch, it does not necessarily mean that people are returning to the hippie fashion. Jewelry with peace symbols has a new approach, new models are being released on the market, some more elegant and chic than others.

The symbol used for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament is the most popular among fashion designers today. However, it is not the only peace symbol used in this industry and known to the entire world. Peace is also suggested by signs such as doves carrying olive branches or both of these elements taken separately, these having their origins in ancient times. As for more recent such symbols, the one mentioned in the mentioned in the beginning is completed by the V hand sign.

The success of the peace sign jewelry is somehow unbelievable both among ordinary people and among celebrities. From ten-year-olds or grandmothers to the first family of the United Sates of America, everybody is fond of this kind of accessories and appreciates the aesthetic value of this peace sign jewelry and other accessories. It seems like there are fewer and fewer people who do not have at least a peace sign necklace, a pin or some peace sign earrings at home.

The piece sign can now be found in all kinds of jewelry. Therefore, you can find plastic peace sign accessories or you can run into this symbol with some of the most sophisticated jewels released on the market today. In the past, there were a lot of comments when people decided to wear this kind of jewelry, but fashion today allows this new trend without no inhibitions and no comments whatsoever. In fact, this retro peace sign trend is very well received nowadays from a social point of view, too, not only from the pure artistic one, promoting values and models in a very stylish, contemporary and everyday way.
